Another Week of Art

This last week was a success. For kindergarten we finished two projects. We accomplished are Joan Miro portraits and they are adorable. We also finished our expression paintings using tissue paper(there are some examples of their finished works on the kindergarten page.). This week we will be focusing on movement. We are going to discuss the painting Snap the Whip by Winslow Homer. It is a beautiful piece that hearkens back to a simpler time. The students will be given pipe cleaners and will make a stick figure and pose it in various action shots. They will then create a landscape for their stick figure. I think this is definitely a project they will enjoy.

In first grade we are continuing on our Red Hills and White Shell project. They are gorgeous!!! You can catch a glimpse of some of them on the first grade page. We will be drawing our shells and coloring them with oil pastels tomorrow.

In second grade we are finishing our Grecian columns. They are looking sharp. We will then start to study ancient Chinese pagodas. The students will draw their own multi tiered Pagoda following instructions from me. I love a good architectural lesson and I know they will too.

In third grade, we are continuing our mosaics. The students are really creative and I love the way they are doing their own mosaics so differently from each other. I am hoping to have those completed by the end of the week. There are some examples of what they are doing on the third grade page.

I hope you all have a wonderful week and I can't wait to share your students art with you!
