Fourth Quarter and an Art Show

It's the beginning of fourth quarter! We have been very busy in the art room preparing for our big finale: The Art Show! Mark your calendars for May 2nd. I will be looking for lots of help mounting art work and hanging it. It will be different from last year as it will be in the evening so everyone can come enjoy the beautiful art.

In Second Grade, we have wrapped up our Thiebaud cakes and they are gorgeous and delicious looking. We have started on The Great Wave. We are learning about lines and we'll be painting! Watercolor and Tempera. We also will cover Audobon and work on drawing realistic birds by adding texture.

In First Grade, we have just finished our Cezanne Apples and the study of shadow and light. We are now looking at Monet's Tulips. We are learning a one point perspective. The next project will be Degas and we will experiment with chalk pastels.

In Kindergarten, we have been very busy. We just finished Matisse vases using line, patterns and bright colors. They are some of my favorite pieces. We are now doing the eiffel tower to go along with their Eurpean lessons on class. The next project we will work on will be Diego Rivera. I LOVE his art work. I can't wait to create some murals and to have some fun working in groups.
