Third Quarter Is Here!
We are doing some beautiful work in the art room this quarter and getting ready for the Art Show. We have a date! The Art Show is May 2nd. I will definitely be asking for help.
In Kindergarten, we have been having fun with Picasso. We talked a little about Pablo Picasso and have been drawing his line animals. We are drawing and painting his Dove of Peace and talking about primary and secondary colors. It is looking beautiful so far. For full day kindergarten, we have been playing around with pointillism and drawing cute baby penguins. Next project, I would like to introduce the kids to Peter Bruegel's The Hunter's in the Snow. We will be using it to study value. The kids will get to mix paint and will love it.
In First Grade, we just got done painting Georgia O'Keeffe's Leaves. We used crayons to shade. We are currently working on Warm colors and Cool colors. WE are drawing a sun and moon. For our next project, I am going to introduce the kids to Albrecht Durer and his hair. We will talk about texture and try to create a realistic using our pencils to add details.
In Second Grade, we just finished Klee's Senecio. It was a beautiful chalk pastel drawing. We are currently working on Vincent Van Gogh's The Starry Night. It is one of my favorite projects. We are breaking it down by background, middle ground and foreground. WE are using oil pastels to complete the project.
